ABI Values
We believe the Bible is the ultimate guide for life. At Apostolic Bible Institute students cultivate Scriptural knowledge by:
We seek to be a college that is both Spirit-led and Spirit-filled. This is fulfilled by providing opportunities for personal and corporate prayer and worship as a means of staying connected to God.
We recognize that emotional health is essential to spiritual growth, healthy relationships, and effective leadership. We are committed to fostering an environment that nurtures emotionally healthy students and leaders.
We create opportunities for students to learn how God’s work is best achieved when every student is given the chance to serve, collaborate, and lead. Through teamwork, students develop as leaders by applying their unique
By embracing these gifts, students learn to serve faithfully, and walk effectively in unity.
Excellence in academics and Christian values is demonstrated by fostering an environment where students are strengthened to develop a spirit of dedication. This commitment encourages them to give their best to God in every aspect of their lives, most clearly reflected in
Discipleship is a shared commitment embraced by the entire ABI community. This dedication is evident in the intentional efforts of the administration, faculty, and staff who actively disciple students, helping them solidify their Christian worldview. They also encourage students to make disciples and develop into responsible members of society through:
Just 36 years following the outpouring of Pentecost in Topeka, Kansas God called a man to “start a Bible school.” Though the idea was unacceptable in some circles, Reverend S.G. Norris accepted the call and the Apostolic Bible Institute (ABI) was founded in 1937. This established the first Bible College within the organizations that later became the United Pentecostal Church International (UPCI). Central to his purpose was a firm conviction that only a strong Bible-based ministry could guarantee the survival of the apostolic movement.
Reverend Gerald Grant was elected president in 1990 after the passing of Reverend S.G. Norris. Throughout his leadership, he was committed to the same mission which was the heartbeat of the founder – to see men and women biblically trained for the service of Christ. ABI continued to grow throughout Reverend Gerald Grant’s 34 years as president.
In 2024, ABI entered a new chapter as Reverend Daniel Flemming, former Iowa District Superintendent, was appointed as the new president. ABI underwent a rebranding, unveiling a new school logo and color scheme. Alongside this fresh identity, the institute introduced an updated mission statement: “Apostolic Bible Institute is dedicated to academic excellence and distinctive practical ministerial training, equipping students to be servant-leaders in the church and disciple-makers in the world.” This renewed vision reinforces ABI’s commitment to equipping future leaders with both knowledge and practical experience in ministry.
With a strong foundation of biblical teaching, ministerial training, and a commitment to revival, ABI continues its mission to equip and send leaders who will impact the world for generations to come.
